Art deco living room with a jaali partition in Ratanada, Jodhpur

About this design

This art deco living room was designed for a young couple who both work from home at Ratanada, Jodhpur. The brief asked for display space for books and travel finds, so the team added open shelves with concealed lights.

The palette is emerald, gold and ivory, with fluted panels, brass inlays and arched mirrors. Main materials: velvet, brass trims, marble and fluted panels. In Jodhpur, light, heat-reflecting colours, blackout curtains and units kept off hot west walls help through the summer.

Work on site took about 5 weeks after the design was signed off, and the approximate cost was ₹8.1 lakh for a 284 sq ft room, including GST. Treat it as a reference: brands, site conditions and the city change the final price.
