How these firms were chosen

Each firm has a studio, office or showroom in or near Mumbai with a published address or locality, its own website showing completed work, and takes on the kind of project this page covers. Firms are listed alphabetically; the order is not a ranking. We do not quote prices for the firms named here: ask each one for an itemised quotation and compare it with your own estimate from our interior cost calculator.

Every firm here designs homes from scratch rather than from packages, and quotes projects individually.

No firm paid to appear on this page. Links to firms are marked nofollow. Details are taken from each firm's own published information; confirm the address and scope with the firm before you visit or sign anything. Last checked 7 Oct 2026.

Budgeting for a bespoke home in Mumbai

Price your own home first

Every home is different, so we do not publish price bands for the firms on this page. Use our interior cost calculator to build an itemised estimate for your rooms in Mumbai, with the exact board, finish and fittings, then ask each firm to quote the same list. Comparing line by line shows where quotations really differ.

Build my itemised quote →

Penthouses, duplexes and bungalows are usually quoted per project. Check what the quote includes. Design fees, loose furniture, lighting fixtures, art, automation and soft furnishings are often priced separately at this level. The essential vs luxury budget guide shows where the money goes.

Briefing a luxury studio in Mumbai

  • Building rules first. Share the society's rules on work hours, structural changes and debris before design starts; they can rule out some ideas.
  • Sea air. In sea-facing homes, ask how veneers, metals and fabrics are chosen and protected against salt and humidity.
  • Who designs. Ask whether a principal or a junior designer leads your project, and how often the principal visits site.
  • Furniture making. Ask where bespoke pieces are made and whether you can see them before they are finished.
  • Change pricing. Agree in writing how changes after design approval are priced.

For the look itself, see luxury interior design, Art Deco revival (a Mumbai favourite) and bespoke furniture.

Frequently asked questions

Who are the top luxury interior designers in Mumbai?

On this page: Essajees Atelier (Colaba), Talati & Partners (Worli), ZZ Architects (Lower Parel), and Ravi Vazirani Design Studio and Sumessh Menon Associates (Bandra), with Soar Designs (Bandra West). They are listed alphabetically, not ranked.

How much does a luxury interior designer cost in Mumbai?

Costs depend on your rooms, their sizes and the exact board, finish and fittings, so we do not quote per-sq-ft figures for the firms on this page. Build an itemised estimate in our interior cost calculator, then ask two or three firms to quote the same list and compare it line by line.

What is the difference between a luxury and a premium interior designer?

Luxury studios design every room from scratch, make furniture to order and run sites with a dedicated lead. Premium firms customise proven modular systems with better finishes. The cost gap is mostly design time, bespoke furniture and materials such as veneer and stone.

How long does a luxury apartment interior take in Mumbai?

Plan for four to six months after design approval, longer for bungalows and full redesigns. Society work-hour limits and the monsoon can stretch the schedule.
