Quick answerFor a 3 BHK of about 1,400 sq ft carpet area in Bangalore, full interiors cost roughly ₹6–10 lakh in essential grade, ₹10–15 lakh in standard grade and ₹15–24 lakh in premium grade, including GST. Kitchen and wardrobes take about 45% of the budget.

A 3 BHK gives you more rooms to furnish, but it does not simply cost 1.5 times a 2 BHK. The kitchen stays similar in size, the third bedroom usually gets simpler storage, and a larger share goes into ceilings, lighting and the living room.

A three-phase plan that spreads the cost

  1. Before move-in · 50–60% of budgetPhase 1: storage and servicesKitchen, all wardrobes, electrical changes, painting, utility storage and bathroom accessories. Anything that is dusty or needs walls opened belongs here.
  2. Months 2–6 · 25–30%Phase 2: comfort layerTV wall, living and master ceilings, crockery unit, foyer, lighting upgrades and curtains. Living in the home first helps you place these better.
  3. Months 6–18 · 15–20%Phase 3: finishing touchesWall panelling, wallpaper, balcony deck, décor, rugs, art and automation. These are easy to add without disturbing daily life.
Plan wiring in phase 1Even if the TV wall or automation comes later, run the conduits and points during phase 1. Opening finished walls later costs more than the wiring itself.

Snag fixes after handover₹5,000–20,000Hinge adjustment, touch-ups, small replacements

Eight ways to spend less without cutting quality

  1. Use one hero finish, such as acrylic kitchen fronts or a veneer TV wall, and quality laminate everywhere else.
  2. Choose a peripheral cove ceiling instead of full ceilings; it costs roughly half and still hides the lighting.
  3. Keep the kids and guest wardrobes hinged and laminate. Upgrade the master only.
  4. Buy ready-made furniture for the guest room; save custom carpentry for fixed storage.
  5. Collect at least three itemised quotes for the same scope. Prices for identical work can differ by 30% or more.
  6. Write down every material, size and brand before work starts. Verbal changes turn into "rate differences" on the final bill.
  7. Avoid starting in the October–December festival rush if you can; firms have more room to negotiate early in the year.
  8. Phase the work as described above rather than borrowing to do everything at once.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I budget for a 3 BHK interior in Bangalore?

About ₹450–700 per sq ft of carpet area for essential grade, ₹700–1,100 for standard and ₹1,100–1,700 for premium. For a 1,400 sq ft flat that is roughly ₹6–10 lakh, ₹10–15 lakh and ₹15–24 lakh.

What is the minimum budget for a 3 BHK?

Around ₹5–6 lakh covers a laminate kitchen, three hinged wardrobes, painting and essential electrical work in a 1,200–1,400 sq ft flat. It leaves out false ceilings, the TV wall and furniture.

What share of the budget should go to wardrobes?

About 20–24% for all three bedrooms together. Spend more on the master wardrobe and keep the kids and guest wardrobes simple; they are the easiest to upgrade later.

Is a false ceiling necessary?

No. A peripheral ceiling in the living room and master bedroom gives most of the effect and lets you add cove lighting. The kids and guest rooms can skip it.

How long does a 3 BHK interior take?

About 45–60 days for kitchen and wardrobes only, 75–100 days for a full scope, and up to four months for premium work with veneer, PU or custom furniture.

How much contingency should I keep?

Keep 10–15% of the quoted amount for electrical rework, plumbing shifts, uneven walls and small changes. On a ₹12 lakh project that is ₹1.2–1.8 lakh.
