About this design
This Rajasthani pooja unit was designed for retired parents moving closer to their children at Tamarind Residency, Fatehpura, Udaipur. The brief asked for a pooja space that fits a small flat, so the team built a wall-mounted unit with drawers below.
The palette is sandstone pink, indigo and gold, with jaali screens, sandstone and block-print textiles. Main materials: jaali screens, sandstone, block-print textiles and mirror work. In Udaipur, light, heat-reflecting colours, blackout curtains and units kept off hot west walls help through the summer.
Work on site took about 2 weeks after the design was signed off, and the approximate cost was ₹2.1 lakh for a 25 sq ft room, including GST. Treat it as a reference: brands, site conditions and the city change the final price.
Highlights
- Marble platform that is easy to clean
- Brass bells and diya shelf
- Jaali doors that let the lamp light through
- Placed in the north-east corner
