About this design

This Rajasthani pooja unit was designed for a couple returning from abroad at Juniper Court, T Nagar, Chennai. The brief asked for easy cleaning after daily rituals, so the team used a marble platform and a washable back panel.

The palette is sandstone pink, indigo and gold, with jaali screens, sandstone and block-print textiles. Main materials: jaali screens, sandstone, block-print textiles and mirror work. In Chennai, BWP plywood, sealed board edges and stainless hardware stand up to the humid, salty air.

Work on site took about 2 weeks after the design was signed off, and the approximate cost was ₹1.8 lakh for a 41 sq ft room, including GST. Treat it as a reference: brands, site conditions and the city change the final price.

Highlights

  • Jaali doors that let the lamp light through
  • Arched top with back-lit panel
  • Drawers for pooja items below
