About this design

This Mediterranean coffee bar was designed for a family-run bakery at Seashell Bakehouse, T Nagar, Chennai. The brief asked for seating that turns over fast but feels warm, so the team mixed booths, two-seaters and a bar ledge along the window.

The palette is whitewash, sea blue and terracotta, with arches, lime-washed walls and terracotta floors. Main materials: lime wash, terracotta tiles, arched niches and rattan. In Chennai, BWP plywood, sealed board edges and stainless hardware stand up to the humid, salty air.

Work on site took about 8 weeks after the design was signed off, and the approximate cost was ₹9.9 lakh for about 472 sq ft, including GST. Treat it as a reference: brands, site conditions and the city change the final price.
