This traditional Indian master bedroom was designed for a couple with a toddler and a dog at Alkapuri, Vadodara. The brief asked for a calm room to rest in, so the team used a soft palette, blackout curtains and warm lights on dimmers.
The palette is turmeric, deep red and peacock green, with carved teak, brass accents and handloom upholstery. Main materials: solid teak, brass inlay, handloom fabric and kota stone. In Vadodara, light, heat-reflecting colours, blackout curtains and units kept off hot west walls help through the summer.
Work on site took about 3 weeks after the design was signed off, and the approximate cost was ₹9.4 lakh for a 265 sq ft room, including GST. Treat it as a reference: brands, site conditions and the city change the final price.
