Scandinavian wooden slat ceiling over the dining table in Tadong, Gangtok

About this design

This Scandinavian wooden slat ceiling over the dining table was designed for a couple with a toddler and a dog at Sandalwood Residency, Tadong, Gangtok. The brief asked for defining the dining area in an open plan, so the team added wooden slats over the dining table.

The palette is white, powder blue and mustard, with light woods, soft textiles and big clear windows. Main materials: birch-look laminate, wool, white oak flooring and powder-coated steel. In Gangtok, warm wood finishes, insulated wall panels and thick rugs keep the rooms comfortable in cold months.

Work on site took about 2 weeks after the design was signed off, and the approximate cost was ₹1.4 lakh for about 572 sq ft, including GST. Treat it as a reference: brands, site conditions and the city change the final price.
